Police Seek Leads in Robbery Attempt on Collingswood Gas Station

Like many service stations on major interchanges, the Gulf gas station on Route 130 has been a popular target for bank robbers for months now.

In February 2013, a Willingboro man was charged with robbing the service station amidst an apparent multi-town crime spree.

Then, just three months later, a pair of men hit the same gas station again. 

Most recently, that same location was the target of another armed robbery attempt just two months ago, according to Collingswood police.

At 1:43 a.m. on November 4, police report that a customer at the station saw a man, approximately five-feet tall and about 150 pounds, wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers, approach the attendants' booth.

According to police, the man was brandishing a black handgun, banging on the booth, and hollering at the attendants, who had locked themselves in the booth when they saw the man approach. 

As the witness drove up to the pump, the suspect reportedly fled the scene. Police brought in a K-9 unit to track the area, but without success. No money was taken and no one was harmed in the attempt.

In December 2012, a 44-year-old Blackwood man and his juvenile accomplice were charged in a string of incidents in Camden and Gloucester counties.

Throughout 2012 and 2013, gas station robbers struck in Brooklawn, Collingswood and Maple Shade, as well as the Lukoil gas station in West Deptford.

In perhaps the most violent of these incidents, a Woodbury man was killed in a robbery-homicide at a Route 45 gas station in August.
