Days after, police said, the victim reported receiving a phone call from an unknown number from someone claiming to be from Marrois Research. The caller said that the resident had mistakenly received an additional check, and advised her to deposit both checks, withdraw the money, and wire it to an address in California.

She did so, and was advised by her bank that the checks had been fraudulent.

Then, on October 3, police received a phone call from Discover Card reporting the fraudulent use of a customer’s credit card account at Sun National Bank in Collingswood.

The alleged thief successfully withdrew $500 on the victim's credit line August 26, and made two more unsuccessful attempts later that day, and then the next. The victim is a Cherry Hill resident who confirmed that several of his credit cards had been taken from his vehicle while it was parked in that township.
