Car Windows Smashed at Marina Park Apartments in Collingswood

A metal baseball bat was apparently used to bash out the windows of a pair of cars in the 600 block of Cedar Avenue. No motive has been ascribed to the crime.

Collingswood police are investigating a pair of reported incidents of criminal mischief in the borough that left a pair of car owners with expensive repair bills.

At 10:42 a.m. on December 29, police received a report from the owner of a 2009 Toyota Scion that someone had smashed out its windshield. The vehicle had been parked in the parking lot of the Marina Park apartments in the 600 block of Cedar Avenue.

While investigating that report, police saw that the windows of a nearby 2010 Honda Civic had been similarly damaged. That victim, a Woodlawn Avenue resident, said the vehicle had been parked there since 11 p.m. the prior evening.

Officers observed a metal baseball bat on the ground beside the Scion; they believe it was used in both incidents. Police believe the incidents are unrelated but likely were committed by the same offender or offenders. Damage in both cases was estimated at $150.
