Camden Men Charged in Woodlynne, Camden, Haddon Twp. Robbery Spree

Two Camden men who allegedly went on an armed robbery spree in Woodlynne, Camden and Haddon Township have been arrested and face multiple charges, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk, Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson, Haddon Township Police Chief Mark Cavallo and Woodlynne Public Safety Director Edwin Figueroa announced Monday.

Shamar Lee, 23, and Raekwon Simmons, 18, were responsible for at least four armed robberies in November, Faulk said, and could face charges in an additional seven other robberies in the area.

Simmons, who was arrested Friday, and Lee, who was arrested by U.S. Marshals Sunday, were identified by members of the public who recognized them from wanted posters and a video clip posted online of one of the Woodlynne robberies, Faulk said.

Lee, who was charged in all four robberies, and Simmons, who was charged in just two, hit multiple businesses within an area roughly bordered by Mount Ephraim and Ferry Avenues and Route 130, Faulk said, and also robbed individuals on the street in the same general area.

Both men took part in a Nov. 14 armed robbery at Xpress Market on Woodlynne Avenue and a Nov. 20 armed robbery at Del Monte's News Shop on Mount Ephraim Avenue, and were each charged with a total of two counts each of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Lee was additionally charged in a Nov. 19 armed robbery at Mucha Luna Grocery on Mount Ephraim Avenue, where Faulk said he held employees at gunpoint in a bathroom during the incident, and a Nov. 24 armed robbery at Lilly's Market on Woodlynne Avenue, where Faulk said he also attempted to sexually assault a woman who was working there as a clerk.

Simmons was involved in neither the Nov. 19 nor the Nov. 24 incidents, Faulk said.

Lee faces single counts each of aggravated assault, theft, criminal restraint, sexual contact and unlawful possession of a weapon, and two counts each of robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the second two incidents.

Both men are currently in the Camden County Jail, and Faulk said it's likely they'll be charged in additional incidents that are still under investigation.
