Blackwood Man, Teenager Charged in Gas Station Robberies

Albert A. Anderson III, 44, and his juvenile accomplice were charged in several gas station robberies and robbery attempts in Camden and Gloucester counties.

According to Deptford police, Albert A. Anderson III, 44, and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile were arrested Friday after attempting to rob a Citgo gas station on Hurffville Road in Deptford Township. Anderson was arrested in his vehicle; the teen was found hiding under a truck.

Among other robberies, the pair have been charged in the Nov. 19 Blackwood Citgo robbery attempt, according to Gloucester Township Police, and are believed to have robbed a Brooklawn Citgo—a gas station that was hit twice in a matter of hours—on Nov. 20.

There was no mention made by police as to whether the two had been charged in connection with the Nov. 11 shooting of a Sunoco gas station attendant in Collingswood.

Both were charged with criminal attempt armed robbery for Friday's crime, multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Anderson was additionally charged with multiple counts of employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime. He is currently being held in the Gloucester County Jail on $250,000 bail. The teen was placed in the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police from Gloucester Township, Washington Township, Westville, Woodbury and East Greenwich were deployed to apprehend the alleged robbers, as were agents from the FBI and the Prosecutors' Offices of Camden and Gloucester Counties.
