Bizarre Vehicle Theft at Heights of Collingswood

The victim told police that he knew the man who took his car and owed him money for throwing away his gun.

A man who flagged down police in the parking lot of the Heights of Collingswood apartment complex reported that his vehicle keys were taken by a man who had forced him to drive at gunpoint.

Around 10 p.m. on October 11, police were approached by the victim, who told them he had been confronted by two men at the Crestbury Apartments in Camden City earlier that evening. 

The victim told police that he knew one of the men from a previous incident and owed him money for throwing away his gun.

According to the victim, the pair asked him for money, which he said he didn’t have. Then one of the men allegedly entered his vehicle at gunpoint and ordered the driver to take him to get some money. 

When the victim saw police in the parking lot of the Heights of Collingswood, he pulled in, shouting to police. His alleged assailant stole the keys from the vehicle and ran off.

Collingswood police turned the incident over to the Camden County Metro Division for further investigation.
