$16K in Materials Stolen from Rt. 130 Construction Project

Metals, often stolen for scrap value, and a Caterpillar backhoe have gone missing from the Route 130 highway improvement project in the past year.

At least $16,000 of metal has been reported as stolen from construction sites of contractors on the Route 130 project since it began last year, according to Collingswood Police.

South State, Inc. has been working on the multiyear Route 130 bridge and highway project, which in 2012 included the razing of longtime Collingswood burger joint Roney's.

The company maintains a couple of project locations within the borough, that, according to police reports, have been struck by thieves repeatedly since last year.
