Lourdes Donates $5,000 to Camden High School

Donated funds benefit upgrade of school’s athletic field

Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center recently donated $5,000 to Camden High School. The donation benefits a refurbishment of the school’s athletic field.

Lourdes is one of numerous donors, including the Philadelphia Eagles Foundation, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Camden Board of Education and Camden County Board of Freeholders, who gave to the fundraising campaign, which helped provide the more than 60-year-old field with artificial turf, perimeter fencing and new bleachers.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was recently held open the new field.  “The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony marked an historic event for our district, the city of Camden, and the Camden High Football team,” says Superintendent Paymon Rouhanifard. “Without the generous donations from national organizations like the Philadelphia Eagles Foundation and U.S. Soccer Foundation, as well as local contributors such as Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and the City of Camden, this fantastic event would not have been possible.”

“As a long-time neighbor of the Camden community, we look to help our fellow neighbors,” says Lourdes Health System President and CEO Alexander J. Hatala.  “We are happy to be able to provide assistance to Camden High School in completing its field refurbishment project. High school athletic programs are a vital component of the community, and we are proud to support current students and future generations.  We look forward to continuing to work together with our neighbors to help benefit the Camden community.”
