Give Back to Knight Park with Collingswood Soccer Families on Saturday

Families are asked to kick in $5 apiece to the Trustees of Knight Park to support the biggest athletic facility in town.

In appreciation for use of the facilities at Knight Park, the borough recreation league soccer teams are holding a token give-back this on Saturday.

Collingswood residents and soccer families are invited to join in "Give Back to Knight Park Day" with a $5 contribution to the Trustees of Knight Park "as a donation to the park in appreciation of having this great park to play in every fall," said director James Bridgeford.

With more than 650 parents in the program, Bridgeford is optimistic that a small contribution from each can help build a significant donation.

Collingswood Rec Soccer brings more than 400 youth soccer players to the park every Saturday in the autumn, Bridgeford said, as well as using the fields for practice during the week.

"Needless to say, in the process we beat up the fields, roads, and park quite a bit," Bridgeford said in an e-mail to parents.

The league will also donate 100 percent of its “Goal Cart” concession stand proceeds on Saturday directly to Knight Park.

Want to help? Write a $5 check payable to "Knight Park Trustees," and drop it into the white “Give Back to Knight Park” lock box at the Goal Cart from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
