Jazz in the Wood - The Philadelphia Heritage Art Ensemble

Originally a New Yorker, but raised in Philadelphia in the 1960s, Fred Adams is an incredibly versatile, forward-looking—and forward-thinking—jazz trumpeter, is
the director of the Philadelphia Heritage Art Ensemble, and has toured the world and recorded with the “beyond category” Sun Ra Arkestra for more than 20 years.
“We enlighten spirits and we explore all the emotions, good or bad, and sometimes heal souls as we go along,” Adams said of the music he helped create with the Arkestra. Of the Art Ensemble, Fred Adams continues to revisit,
reinvent, and recreate the magic and artistry of many of Philadelphia’s jazz legends, including saxophonist Hank Mobley and trumpeter Lee Morgan.
