Fuel Spill Impacts Camden Co. Waterways

Crews are working to clean up a Thursday diesel fuel spill that has spread to a Gloucester Township lake.

A diesel fuel spill Thursday in Washington Township, Gloucester County, has spread to Camden County waterways.

About 26,000 gallons of diesel fuel reportedly spilled from a storage tank at a New Jersey Transit facility in Washington Township Thursday morning. The fuel spread to lakes in both Gloucester and Camden counties.

In Camden County, fuel patches floated to Blackwood Lake in Gloucester Township. Crews were out Thursday and Friday attempting to contain and clean up the spill. A strong diesel odor hung over the area, though some residents reported it had somewhat dissipated from the overwhelming odor Thursday.
