It's not enough that Nancy and Stephen Marino have spent the past several years trying to keep afloat their Christian-themed retail store, For Heaven's Sake, only to have to close it in a matter of weeks.
Now the couple are literally searching for Jesus, as the miniature figurine from the store's Real Life Nativity set has gone missing.
It is part of the "Holy Family" Nativity creche produced by Three Kings Gifts, and retails for around $45 online.
Nancy Marino said that other items have been stolen before from the shop, including Swarovski crystal rosary bracelets, wooden Jesus beads, inspirational bracelets and rings.
But this one stings.
"They may think it is funny, but I fail to see the humor," Marino wrote in an email to Patch, "especially since this little statue most likely does not have a value or serve a purpose" to whomever took it.
"Nothing earth shattering, but does upset me and make me wonder about the ethics of some local kids," Marino wrote.
She is requesting its return "with no questions asked."
"No Jesus, no Nativity," Marino wrote.
