Collingswood Patch Has a New Local Editor

Freelancer/guest editor Matt Skoufalos starts today as the new full-time editor for Collingswood Patch.

You've probably seen Matt Skoufalos roaming around town. He might have even interviewed you for Collingswood Patch's Borough Beeswax column. 

For the past several months, Skoufalos (pronounced skoo-fuh-liss) has been a Patch freelance writer, covering town meetings and other goings-on in the borough. Today he takes over as Local Editor, bringing you the latest on everything in Collingswood, all day, every day.

Skoufalos, 32, is a Haddon Township resident who has lived in Camden County since he was a child. Husband to wife Jennifer and father to two-year-old son Jet, he graduated from in 1997 and the College of New Jersey in 2001 with dual majors in journalism and philosophy.

Skoufalos brings with him an extensive media background that has included stops at WHYY-FM, where he was an occasional field reporter and associate producer of Dan Gottlieb's show Voices in the Family. One of his earliest local mentors was What's On publisher David Hunter, for whom he interned at age 20.

His rooting interests include the Flyers and Phillies, but Skoufalos will watch good hockey whenever he can. He is a fan of local art, vegetarian food, and music, and also sings with the seven-piece rock, reggae, and soul band, The Unstoppable Hack Beats.

"I'm excited to take on the job of serving Collingswood and its need for timely, accurate, and meaningful news reporting," Skoufalos said. "I love this town, and I want Patch to be the best resource for Collingswood residents to find out what's happening here.

"21st century media is a partnership as well as a public trust," Skoufalos said. "Collingswood Patch can be as good as the community helps it become, and for that to happen, we need feedback from everyone in town. Please keep the comments and news tips coming. Your voice will be heard!"
