It's Summer, Get Out There and Eat

I found out what's happening this summer at some of our favorite restaurants.

Hello, folks.  Happy summer to you all.  As these irritatingly muggy July days bleed into an even muggier August, boredom creeps into our bodies like an awful disease.  What is there to do?  The excitement of Independence Day already seems like a distant memory.  There’s nothing new on television, so scratch that.  The Phillies are winning, but with the way their offense is dragging along, watching them is about as exciting as watching a fresh coat of paint dry.  That about does it for sports.  And I don’t know about you, but the idea of doing any outside activity is seriously hindered when simply breathing easily becomes a chore.  Yessir, these are the dog days indeed.  It might intrigue you to know, however, that our friends along Haddon Avenue and beyond took our suffering into account, and are offering some exciting specials to help fend off the summer doldrums:

The Pop Shop

Sapori

-Tasting menu

I’m not sure if this is a summer thing or not, but it’s worth mentioning nonetheless.  Through the week, uber-excellent Sapori offers a $45 tasting menu.  I’m sold.

The Tortilla Press

-Cooking Class

Thursday, July 21st at 6:30pm, Chef Mark is hosting a several course cooking class at his Cantina location in Pennsauken, claiming to use only fresh Jersey produce.  Rock on.  Call Lydia for details at 856-979-3333.

West Side Gravy

-Dollar Dog Night

I’ll let their website take it from here: “Dollar Dog Nights during every Phillies Game! Grab a cooler, stock it up and come check out the game on our new HDTVs and grab an all beef hot dog for just $1”.  What else needs to be said?

Be sure to check back with me soon, when I cover Blackbird’s $20.11 prix fixe menu.  Until then, enjoy the air conditioning!
