DiBartolo Bakery Drops Curtain on New Look

Camera crews continued to film within the bakery, which is taking on a new pastel-colored look.

DiBartolo Bakery may not yet be ready for its closeup officially, but with so many onlookers buzzing about the premises throughout a gray and rainy Wednesday, we snapped a few photos of the new look too.

Gone are the maroon awnings in favor of pastel blue-and-white walls offset by solid yellow for contrast. The 44-year-old bakery also appears to have updated its logo with a silhouetted layer cake icon and the slogan "Eat. Love. Cake."

On the street and inside the bakery, camera crews continued to film throughout the morning and early evening. Pedestrians were hustled along by crew members onsite, and motorists craned their necks for a look as traffic slowed near the shop.

What do you think of the new look at DiBartolo's? Tell us in the comments.

Love it!! They made my wedding cake. They make the best Italian rum cake. The butter cookies are delicious. Im so glad they are in my town--I wish them 44 years of success! The modern/retro look is fantastic--love the blue color.

Not a big fan of the My Little Cupcake color version. That orange-tan color wall is screaming to be tagged with graffiti. Please tell me they're going to add more to it. Looks like a big Easter box on the corner. Meh.

Love the punch of contrast with yellow. I kinda worry that it's an awful lot of that color, but it looks like the bones of the renovations are solid, so if the color becomes un-trendy in a few years, they can just paint. Any scoop on what show it's on???

Are they going retro on purpose? This color was "in" a few decades ago, I believe. I think I would've rather seen something more updated or more "timeless." I don't hate it, but it makes me think retro for sure!

The white boxes with blue ribbons remind me of a backwards Tiffany's box :)

I'm really happy for them and it looks great, but it looks as if they don't have an area where you can watch cakes get iced from the street. That was how I found out they do zombie cakes.

I am so happy about the bakery do over. Mike DiBartolo really deserves this,he is such a hardworking person. We see him all over town lending a hand on just about everything going on. GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN THE BAKERY! Barbara Ball and Family

It's cute, but I don't think it fits their image. Also agree with the other poster who commented that the new look is retro and something less fad-ish would have
a longer shelf life. Either way, they have yummy treats and I wish them the best!

Beautiful, good luck to them!

I like it! Brightens up that corner. I've lived in Collingswood 30 years and it's nice to see change. I wish them much success.

Awesome job on the Interior and the sea-foam green section of the exterior. If the orange sections are done, Im not sure what they were going for there, or if it worked. But props on the whole.
I drove by at dusk yesterday, and with the interior lit up it looked like an Edward Hopper painting. I hope it is lit up at night frequently to get that effect.

Reminds me of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" but instead of diamonds it's sweets!!! I love the "EAT. LOVE. CAKE."!!!!

Love the look, but don't like the Yellow/Orange on the sides? why would they do that? I think the bakery looks awesome besides that and I can't wait to get my next cake there!

Love the green. Love the slogan. Love the wedding cake. Not loving the gold/yellow. On their own, the colors work beautifully. But together? Not so sure.

DiBartolo's looks AMAZING! Our little town was already adorable but this is the icing on the cake! :) I can't wait to take my family to buy some sweeties this weekend.

the yellow is a bit of a misstep, but the blue is great and retro. how did they not update that floor though? black and white tile please!
Patti Cole March 7, 2013 at 06:18 pm
I loved their product before, and I wish them the best success. The blue and white is very pretty and brightens up our town. Maybe the edit button should have been pressed for the gold/yellow. Maybe I'll like it once I get used to it.

It was definitely time for a makeover, and I'm glad to see they have gotten an update. Love the blue, but add me to the list of those confused by the yellow. A paler yellow would have been better - the paint they used is quite bright in person. But it certainly does draw attention to the shop, which I suppose was the point!
I'm looking forward to seeing if they've changed the menu at all.
David Maynard March 7, 2013 at 06:25 pm
here's hoping Stromboli, donuts and hammentashen are all still menu items..
MJT530 March 7, 2013 at 06:26 pm
I think it looks great. The orange color does its job by catching your eye and makes people talk about it. Smart idea.
C.V. March 7, 2013 at 06:57 pm
the more i look, the more annoyed i am getting with the
floor!
Melissa Pizzani-Messimer March 7, 2013 at 07:08 pm
i agree it was a smart idea. i love the gold color. & i don't find the colors too retro. i think they are fun, pretty & most importantly catch your eye.
Paul McKissick March 7, 2013 at 07:35 pm
Does anybody know what TV show was shooting the remodel?
MJT530 March 7, 2013 at 07:36 pm
They should have an ugly floor...keeps your eyes where they should be..at product level..another smart idea.

It's a Food Network pilot, and we're keeping mum on more of the details out of respect for the DiBartolos and the production team.
Longtime Colls Resident March 7, 2013 at 08:35 pm
It looks nice but I think they need a second coat on the yellow. Don't know how long it will hold since they painted it in the rain.
Angela March 8, 2013 at 06:40 pm
Beautiful!!! It doesn't really matter what color they paint it, it's new and fresh!!! Congrats DiBartolos! Here's to 44 more years!
Linda Hadfield Bond March 8, 2013 at 09:28 pm
I think it brightens things up! Most of it is very appealing and nothing is offensive. It has brought life back to town in the dead of winter! It has people talking and walking up to take a peak! And if it is all for a TV show and DiBartolo's did not have to pay for it...Good For Them! Congratulations on the great new look and all the free advertising! Nothing better than a family run business that sticks around for 44 years!
