Bank of America Grant Funds Perkins' Art Program

Bank of America will be supporting Perkins Center's ARTS In-School Residency Program with a $10,000 grant, according to an official press release.

has been awarded a grant of $10,000 from Bank of America, to fund its Arts Reaching the Students (ARTS) In-School Residency Program, which serves schools in Camden and Burlington Counties.

Director of ARTS Education Karen Chigounis said, “We are grateful for the grant award from Bank of America and honored to partner with them in bringing professional artists together with students in our regions schools. ARTS residencies create authentic arts experiences for thousands of school children and community members offering the opportunity to produces powerful and lasting works of original written, visual and performance art.”

Through the ARTS Program, employs teaching artists in residencies at Southern New Jersey schools.

ARTS residencies play a critical role for schools, supporting New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards while modeling twenty-first century skills and providing students with authentic learning, team work, and communication skills. 

The reputation of this program has grown since its inception; in addition to 16 residencies proposed for this year, maintains a waiting list of area schools interested in hosting the program.

“We are proud of the confidence Bank of America has shown the ARTS Residency program (via) this award, and will honor this recognition with continued excellence in programming,” said Chigounis.

For over a decade, Bank of America (and earlier, Fleet Bank) has been a valued supporter of the ARTS Program, which is co-funded by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and carries additional corporate and foundation support.
