After Closing, Casona of Collingswood is up for Sale

In the market for a restaurant? Casona is on the block—and at least one restaurateur has scoped out the property.

If you were saddened by the closing last month of Casona, the Cuban restaurant on the edge of downtown Collingswood, then never fear: the property is up for sale, and buyers are kicking the proverbial tires.

At least one restaurateur has already toured the premises: Jack Egoavil, of the Lambertville-based Mexican and Peruvian restaurant, El Tule.

Egoavil said that he liked the property, but as he is in the midst of opening Quinoa, another El Tule offshoot, in Doylestown, PA, "it won't be happening, at least for now."

If he did come to Collingswood, Egoavil said, he would like to remake the historic home into something "a little bit like El Tule; it would be Peruvian and Mexican."

For the asking price of $799,000, the new owner gets a "beautiful, three-story B.Y.O.B. restaurant with wraparound deck, totally renovated, [and] fully equipped," according to the listing from Bizbuysell.com

Buyers, take note: this is a "perfect opportunity to come into a turnkey operation with upgrades and impeccable furnishings."

Owner-operator Mark Infantado told Patch in October that although his concept was well-received in town, operations at the Haddon Avenue location were hampered by mounting state and federal tax debts that made his overhead unsustainable.
