Sunshine, Warming Trend This Week

How long will this autumn preview last? Find out in the PatchCast for September 10th through September 16th.

A cold front came through on Saturday and brought thunderstorms to the Delaware Valley. Behind Saturday's front was cooler air, allowing for an autumn preview for a few days. This means highs in the 70s to start the work week with overnight lows in the 50s. We will see a warming trend as we move through the week.

High pressure has set up over the entire northeastern United States behind Saturday's cold front that brought severe weather to parts of the northeast. Today, Monday, September 10th, will feature bright sunshine with a few passing clouds. It will be a beautiful day with a high temperature in the mid 70s. Tonight we will drop to around 55, so it will be a cool and comfortable night for sleeping.

As the center of high pressure moves closer to the Delaware Valley, skies should be totally sunny on Tuesday, September 11th. Another gorgeous day is expected with a high temperature in the upper 70s. Tuesday night will drop to near 55, so it will be another good night for sleeping.

The high pressure center will be in full control of our weather on Wednesday, September 12th. However, as our winds turn more westerly, temperatures will begin to warm. Skies again will be sunny on Wednesday, but it will be a warmer day with a high temperature in the low 80s.

There will be just a touch more moisture in the atmosphere on Thursday, September 13th, so a few passing clouds are possible, but we will still see bright sunshine. The high temperature again will be in the low 80s as winds remain westerly.

As high pressure begins to weaken and even more moisture enters the atmosphere on Friday, September 14th, skies will be mostly sunny and it will be the warmest day of the week. The high temperature will be near 85.

High pressure will start to move away on Saturday, September 15th, and a front will approach from the northwest. There will be a few more clouds around on Saturday but it will still be a nice day. The high temperature will be in the low 80s.

To finish the weekend, Sunday, September 16th, will feature a mix of sun and clouds as the front bears down on the Delaware Valley. As of this writing, it doesn't appear that there will be a high chance of showers and thunderstorms with this front, but I'll put it at 30 percent for now. The high temperature will be around 80.
