Potential Midweek Nor'easter

I'm watching a potential nor'easter for the middle part of this week. How will it affect the Delaware Valley? Find out in this week's PatchCast for November 5th through 11th!

The Delaware Valley is under a freeze warning until 8 AM this morning. Temperatures will be in the low 30s as you step out the door, so you definitely want to grab the jacket.

Under high pressure, today, November 5th, will be mostly sunny but cool. The high temperature will struggle to reach 50 degrees. For trick-or-treating this afternoon and evening, temperatures will be falling quickly through the 40s after sunset (which is at 4:54 PM due to the time change), so be sure to dress the kids warmly. Overnight, temperatures will again drop to near freezing.

High pressure will remain in control on Tuesday, November 6th, allowing for another cool but mostly sunny day. The high temperature will be in the upper 40s. With dry weather, conditions will be ideal for going out to vote.

Wednesday, November 7th, into Thursday, November 8th, is when we could be dealing with a potential nor'easter moving up the east coast. As of now, it appears that rain will develop during the day on Wednesday, be heavy at times Wednesday night, and slowly taper off through the day on Thursday. However, for areas north and west of I-95, there is a risk for the precipitation either to fall as wet snow or to fall as a wet snow and rain mix. Over the higher elevations of Pennsylvania, several inches of snow are not out of the question where it will be mainly a snow event, but for New Jersey just expect a cold soaking rain. Wednesday will be breezy with gusts to 30 mph, but Wednesday night and Thursday will be windy with gusts to 40 mph.

The nor'easter will be well out of our area by Friday, November 9th, but it will be another breezy day with gusts approaching 25 mph. However, it will be mostly sunny with temperatures recovering into the low 50s.

The upcoming weekend looks nearly perfect for early November. On Saturday, November 10th, we'll enjoy sunny skies and milder temperatures with a high around 55. Sunday, November 11th, will be even milder with a high near 60 under mostly sunny skies.
