Cooling Off Later This Week

How long will the heat and humidity last? Find out in your PatchCast for the week of June 11th.

I am aware that there are some high school graduations this week. I can't tell you whether or not to move graduation inside, but I can give you the forecast and allow you to make the decision based on that. I think most days this week will be fine with just slight chances of showers or thunderstorms. The only day I'm worried about is Tuesday when there will be occasional showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and through the night. Just be sure to keep an eye on the doppler radar at the lefthand side of Phillyweather.net before making any decision regarding an indoor or outdoor graduation.

The week will start off warm (although not hot like Sunday's 94 degree high) with a high in the mid-80s today, June 11th. A weakening cold front could trigger a late day thunderstorm, but many of us will not see this. A low pressure system moving in from the west will bring occasional showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday, June 12th, especially in the afternoon and through the overnight hours. This will hold temperatures near 80 degrees. The departing low could bring a leftover shower to the area on Wednesday, June 13th. Otherwise, just a mostly cloudy day is expecting with a high in the lower 80s.

It will start to feel less humid by Thursday, June 14th, but with the low pressure system still near the area, there is still a chance of a spotty shower. Otherwise, a mix of sun and clouds is expected with a high in the upper 70s. High pressure will start to take over on Friday, June 15th, and bring us mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures near 80 degrees. As of now, the weekend looks pretty good. Saturday, June 16th, should be dry southeast of I-95 with a high temperature in the upper 70s. On Sunday, June 17th, a thunderstorm is possible anywhere, but the day should not be a wash-out. Sunday will be a bit warmer with temperatures warming back into the lower 80s.
