Drives to Benefit Community During Collingswood Green Fest

Have items like toys, clothes, jewelry, or gadgets sitting around collecting dust? Put them to better use this month.

On Saturday, April 16, those unused items lying around the house can finally be put to good use, during Collingswood's annual Green Festival.

During the borough's third-annual Green Fest, two local charity-based drives will be on-site to collect donated items.

The first organization at Collingswood Green Festival, the borough's local Swap Meet, will be on-location at Irving Avenue on April 16—between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.—collecting goods.

The Swap Meet will welcome all gently used clothes, jewelry, shoes, books, hats, toys, DVDs and VHS movies, music CDs, puzzles and game-boards, kitchen appliances, gadgets, small household items, arts and crafts supplies—and more.

Although the Swap Meet doesn't require participant donations, they are encouraged. According to Swap Meet officials, any unclaimed goods that remain at the event's end will be donated to area charities—including Angels of God Clothing Closet and ReStore 4 Habitat.

For those unable to attend Green Fest, but would still like to donate to the Swap Meet, contact Melissa Michaluk melissa.michaluk@gmail.com or Jill Collins at jillchestnut@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off.

Another charitable organization operating during this year's Green Fest? Borough-based company, Dustless Hardwood Floors—an organization which helps organize the annual Christmas Toy Drive.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during Green Fest, Dustless Hardwood Floors (DHF) will honor Earth Day by welcoming donations of gently used toys and books.

According to DHF, the springtime season brings spring cleaning—which doubles as the perfect opportunity to donate items your family isn't using.

Green Fest's DHF drive is catered specifically to toy and book donations, all of which will be donated to Camden County Head Start's children in need.

Books and toys can be donated to DHF by drop-off at DHF's booth during Green Fest, or by stopping by Dustless Hardwood Floors' store—located at 487 Haddon Ave., in Collingswood—during the entire month of April.

By donating to DHF, your unused items will be placed in needy children's homes, and will contribute to meeting the Head Start program goals by helping match federal funding and initiatives.

DHF's Green Fest Booth will also provide free information regarding green options for flooring. And throughout the event, DHF will also collect wine corks—which will be recycled into new flooring.
