'Yarn Bombings' Strike Collingswood

An astute reader captured these photos from around town. Have you spotted any of these tree cozies?

Some trees in Collingswood are looking a bit more festive than usual.

An eagle-eyed, anonymous reader sent us these snapshots of a public art project that seems to have spilled right out of the knitting needles and crochet hooks of some of the busiest hands in town.

Wikipedia describes the practice as "yarn bombing," "yarn storming," or "guerilla knitting," among other things, and identified it as "a type of graffiti or street art" similar to chalking.

The practice is thought to have originated in The Netherlands, and is considerably more benign than the gang-related graffiti that graced the front window of The Pop Shop randomly this time last year.
