Treasure Hunts, Prancing and Supergirl: Week Ahead in Collingswood

There's also a benefit concert for the Moore, OK victims, movies on the lawn of the Collingswood Manor and crafts for kids at the library.

Looking for stuff to do in Collingswood this week? There's a full slate of activities.

On Tuesday, July 16, bring your lawn chair or beach blanket to Collingswood Manor for a showing of The Pursuit of Happyness. The movie is free, and you can buy snacks and beverages there. Call Barbara Wrzeszcz at 856-854-4331 x115 for more info.

Wednesday, July 17, brings with it Collingswood's first townwide prance. What is that, exactly? A lighthearted exercise activity that will lead neighbors from the Perkins Center for the Arts on Irvin Street to The Pop Shop’s party room on Washington Street. There's $50 in Pop Shop cash up for grabs to the best-dressed prancer, and a 15 percent discount on Prance-related purchases at Frugal.

On Thursday, July 18, take your little ones over to the Collingswood Public Library to "meet a member of the Community Garden, see a worm farm, and decorate a flower pot." It's all part of the summer reading series for kids.

Then, at 7 p.m., you can come back to the library for a letter-writing campaign from GMO-Free NJ to help petition your elected officials for greater clarity in food labeling.

Just make sure you leave by 8:30 p.m., so that you can head over to the SCIENCE FICTION THEATER 3000 event at the Scottish Rite Ballroom, checking out the cool cars at Cruise Night along the way.

Members of the Collingswood Community Theater will joke, mock, and riff their way through the 1984 superhero flick, Supergirl. Your $20 ticket includes beer and wine; students pay just $10 for a soda-only admission. There's an additional show on Friday if you can't make it Thursday.

Friday, July 18 offers you a pair of musical events to choose from. At Grooveground Coffee Bar, singer-songwriter Tom Jenkins will mix in originals and covers starting at 8:30 p.m.

Or you can head into Audubon earlier in the evening for the Eastbound and Down Country Cover Band's 6 p.m. show. Bring a blanket or chair and some cash to donate for the benefit of the Moore, OK tornado victims.

Finally, on Sunday, July 21, Girlfriendz Magazine sponsors a treasure hunt through Collingswood shops, with free parking and an after-party at Casona.
