Camden Charter Schools Celebrate 10th Commencement Ceremony

(Camden, NJ) - Celebrating a decade of academic excellence, Camden Academy Charter High School (CACHS) is set to send off their tenth graduating class on Friday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. This milestone is just one of many triumphs for CACHS, which has a four-year graduation rate of 98 percent and a five-year graduation rate of 100 percent.

“The graduation rate at Camden Academy reflects the collective commitment to student success,” said Camden Academy Charter High School College Counselor Kyra O’Brien. “Preparing students for a successful future upon graduation from CACHS is the main priority of faculty and staff, and students receive unparalleled academic support throughout their high school experience.”

Ninety-four percent of CACHS’s graduating class will attend a post-secondary institution in fall of 2014. Acceptances for graduating seniors include a number of prestigious colleges in the area, such as St. Joseph’s University, Farleigh Dickinson University, Montclair State University, Rutgers University, Rowan University, Widener University and La Salle University.

A living testament to the school’s success, Camden Academy 2010 alum Donovan Smalls will serve as the keynote speaker for the event. Smalls holds a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in theater arts and communications with a specialization in public relations. As a senior, Smalls wrote, produced and directed his own play “Gossip: The Rumor is Out” at Camden Academy.

During his time at Rutgers in New Brunswick, Smalls landed a guest appearance on Fox 29 News after making a viral video of the 14 different countries he visited in one semester. In addition, Smalls most recently finished an internship at the Wendy Williams Show in New York City.
