The Shamrock is BACK! - Froggies Shamrock Deli
On the way home from the dog park last week, I stopped in to check out the recently renovated Shamrock Deli on Cuthbert Blvd.
Walking in the front door, I felt like I’d been smacked in the face with a log of italian cold cuts. WOW! The place has been completely remodeled: all new deli cases, counter tops, flooring, reach-in refrigerators, all either renovated or brand new. Also added on was a dining room with 10 or so 4-person table tops for epic sit down meals.
I sat down with new owner Froggie Almand (who also owns Almand Brothers Concrete and Almand Brothers Landscaping) to talk about the changes he’s brought to the space.
“My goal is provide our community with a unique experience,” Almond said. “Our family has been a part of this community since 1928. We are here to offer our customers the same warm feelings our family has always given.”
Almond said the staples of the deli—homemade roast beefs, turkeys, and salads—”will always be here and are better than ever.” Shamrock will add to that with other home-cooked and cook-at-home meals, including Severino Pastas, fresh-baked strombolis, and homemade Italian dinners. There’s also Philadelphia’s own Basset’s ice cream and Deitz & Watson deli meats, and Thumann’s cold cuts (from North Jersey).
The full, official menu hasn’t yet been released, but Almond promises “it’s going to be very diverse and large.”
From my experience, everything in the Shamrock seems clean, well-kept and fresh. I think the new deli is going to be here for a long time...and I will be happy to be here with it.
