Some exciting events are on the horizon for members of the GLBTQ community and their friends this holiday weekend.
Holiday Pride will be held at ExtraordinaryED on Saturday, November 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests will have a chance to get their family photos taken, courtesy of Tricia Burrough of Lilac Blossom Photography (a variety of discounted photo packages are available; contact Tricia to schedule your photo session). Note that children, dogs, and cats are all welcome!
Fun and informational activities are planned, including a session on healthy, family-friendly herbs; art activities; tips from a dog trainer; a demonstration of making pottery; and a cocktail demo. There will also be a play area for young children. We’re also collecting toys for Toys for Tots so be sure to bring a new toy to donate!
ExtraordinaryED is located at 710 Haddon Avenue in Collingswood.
Bob will present fundamental aspects of mindfulness, which involves paying attention to one’s emotions, physical sensations, and thoughts. Mindfulness can give us insights into the ways we communicate with others and help us to listen more effectively to the people in our lives.
Bob is an ordained interfaith minister, certified yoga instructor, and photographer. He has trained at the Mindfulness Institute at Thomas Jefferson University.
PFLAG Collingswood will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 26 at the Collingswood Public Library (771 Haddon Avenue). There will be time for socialization as well as a support group.
PFLAG promotes the health and well being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their families and friends through support, education, and advocacy.
Hope to see you at both of these events!
