I guess SuperFresh and I have a different understanding of "underperforming." Of the three supermarkets named, I go to the SuperFresh for virtually everything because of its exemplary performance. The others have their dedicated shoppers too, I'm sure, but for me the SuperFresh is far superior to the others. Acme won't win from this closure. I'll have to start going to Wegman's.

Don't go! PLEASE! SuperFresh is by far the best supermarket in our town. We (my family) are very loyal customers.

Recently a Wegman's opened up nearby. I think people were charmed by something new and, if you give it a chance, I believe the novelty is wearing off. AND, you have a good chance to regain your customers.

Don't make us go to Wegman's. You offer a valuable service and of the 3 stores in town you are far superior. It should be one of them that is closing (Acme or Thriftway)

And ... one more thing, the loss of you as a tenant could make Westmont Plaza into a ghost town where many successful businesses now thrive.

Hope you're able to keep Haddon Township's SuperFresh opened.

I moved to Haddon Township 6 years ago and initially shopped at ACME for the first several months, but my wife turned me on to Superfresh and have been a loyal customer ever since. I've occasionally gone to Wegmans, and although the selection of specialty foods is much larger it has the feel of shopping at Costco, i.e. long checkout lines, crowds etc., Superfresh, you will be missed.

Bottom Dollar would be an excellent replacement. It has both name brand and excellent store brand product at savings up to 50% with very pleasant workers.

Two Words: WHOLE FOODS

According to the publication "Food Trade News", look for all A&P banners (Superfresh and Pathmark) in this region to close soon, because of this dismal financial situation of the company, which will retain stores primarily in the New York Metro area after the Delaware Valley shutdowns.

This is interesting. Only men replying. Are you saying I have to drive all the way to NYC for groceries. Oh, NO. Agree Wegman's was and is a fad for those with bucks, Acme is the pits and . Bottom Dollar doesn't have enough stock or variety. What's a mother to do? Look out NY, here I come.

Makes me sad to think of the distruction of the old J. B. Van Sciver Mansion that stood high on the hill where Super Fresh is now. Not a pretty site to look forward to. Just a vacant store looking out onto Cuthbert.

The only reason Trader Joe's hasn't opened nearby is they couldn't find a site with adequate parking. Maybe there's an opportunity here.

Actually Brian, it was that and they want to be able to sell wines and liquor. Again, an awesome opportunity.

I hope the mayors, commissioners and business managers of all of the communities who depend on Superfresh ~ Haddon Twp., Collingswood, Audubon, Oaklyn, Haddonfield & Haddon Heights, will take a very pro-active position and work with the shopping center management to help find an appropriate anchor to replace Superfresh at the Westmont Plaza. As those of us who live here know, that center is vital to all of our local communities.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't that complex have an open liquor license? Used to a few years back, it was on the lease signs in one of the windows.

I think TJ's is junk, and it would get slaughtered by Wegman's. But a Whole Foods to replace the shoe-box size store they have in Marlton would be a win for all. WF's seems to have built a lot of locations when they were a niche brand, and the size of the stores reflect that. They are mainstream now. And with prepared food / cafe (which is the future of "better" grocers and a concept Wegman's has excelled at) they'd do well in this area. They're upgrading their Philly store dramatically in terms of square footage, have to think that's a corporate-wide vision.

But it wasn't Wegman's that killed SuperFresh, it was Wal-Mart and Target.

I love Westmont Plaza! It's vital to have a good food anchor store there. Any of the above stores mentioned would work. I will miss Super Fresh--good meats.

SuperFresh grapes have been having fruit flies in their bags for quite awhile. I won't buy those and told the Courtesy Desk.

BREAKING NEWS: A&P, last week, sold the lease to an A&P market in Morristown, North Jersey for $20 million to W H O L E F O O D S ! ! ! ! ! !

Unfortunately, I fear that the bottom line for a lot of these chains is demographics. The average income in this area is skewed by the proximity to Camden. One reason why Whole Foods is in Marllton and Morristown and not in Westmont is that the average household income in their perceived market area is substantially higher.

A woman, who answered the phone at the office of the owner of the shopping center, just told us that Ollie's bargain store might be interested in taking over the SuperFresh building. Ollie's sells mostly liquidated and damaged general merchandise. It recently took over a SuperFresh in Bristol. We need a good food store, not another urban junk store!!!

I'm still upset over this. Close-by choice is now reduced to crappy Theftway and dealing with battle axes at the Ackamee.

those odd few of us that don't drive for one reason or another will miss the Superfresh store in westmont... there are no other supermarkets within walking distance and taking the bus limits the amount of groceries one can buy. =(

Bottom Dollar or Whole Food would be best

I've never been to a Whole Foods, so I can't comment on that. But my opinion is that Bottom Dollar is not a very good store and does not offer enough variety. I would most favor a Shop Rite --- good prices, great baked goods, quality and freshness, and a good variety of everything.

I just read on Haddon Patch that Whole Foods will be opening a market in the Ellisburg Shopping Center in Cherry Hill --- scheduled to open in 2014.
So I guess they won't be considering the Super Fresh site in Westmont. I still think Shop Rite would be a good store for the Westmont Plaza.

Don't look now, but there is a very good chance that Westmont ACME will be closing soon, when new owner liquidates all Acme real estate to retrieve investment. The only food store remaining will be the lowly Thriftway, which is overpriced with inferior merchandise.
