Take Mom Somewhere Special on Mother's Day

Food columnist David Valiante sought out all of the restaurant options for Mother's Day around Collingswood and Haddonfield.

I know what you’re thinking. Mother’s Day is next Sunday, and you have no idea where you’re going to take Mom out to eat. Sure, you’ve got a nice card picked out, maybe a little gift, and you’re going to pick the flowers up sometime Saturday. But this restaurant ordeal has got you confounded.

Mom may have told you that it’s OK to stay in and make something at home, but she’s lying. This is her day, and she wants you to spoil the living heck out of her. She just won’t say it. She doesn’t have to. You should know better. So what are you going to do?

Take a deep breath, friend. Relax. It’s under control.

I called around Collingswood and Haddonfield and organized a little cheat sheet for you to help you decide. There are a few brunch options, a couple of special menus, and plenty of great choices.

My only advice is to decide soon, because unlike you, more responsible sons and daughters are already making their reservation and restaurants are filling up quickly.  So without further ado, I present your Mother’s Day 2012 restaurant options:

Haddonfield

Da Soli: They’ll be posting a special Mother’s Day menu in their website in the next few days. Seating for Mother’s Day is 1-5 p.m.

Tre Famiglia: Special Mother’s Day menu available on their website.

The British Chip Shop: Mother’s Day brunch specials.

Collingswood

Bistro di Marino: Creating six Mother’s Day specials, and they’re opening at 1 p.m.

Blackbird: Mother’s Day Brunch 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Special menu available here.

Casona: Brunch served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Dinner served from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Executive Chef Pedro Reyes is “working on something special for Mom.” Check website for updates.

Joe Pesce: Opening at 1 p.m. (They typically open at 4 on Sundays)

That’s Amore: Brunch buffet with seatings from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and a dinner buffet with seatings from 3:15 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Menus available here.

Sapori: Mother’s Day specials (I’m told).

The Tortilla Press: Special Mother’s Day menu that will be posted in the next few days on their website.

So there you have it. Now you don’t have an excuse not to spoil Mom the way you ought to. As usual, if I missed a restaurant, don’t hesitate to email me and I’ll remedy the error.
