A gas station attendant was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound Sunday evening in what police believe was a robbery attempt gone wrong.

At 6:08 p.m., Collingswood police were called to the Sunoco station on Route 130 northbound to investigate. There they discovered the victim, who had been shot in the upper leg. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The suspect is reportedly a white male in dark clothing who fled on foot. Police are unsure whether he later escaped in a vehicle, but Chief Richard Sarlo was overheard to say that "99 percent of the time that's what happens."

Collingswood police vehicles were patrolling nearby neighborhoods shortly after the incident, and K9 units were called in to track in the immediate area. Police will also review surveillance footage and photographs of the scene, and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office will investigate any ballistics evidence uncovered.

Police could not confirm how many shots were fired in the incident, but believe the firearm used was a revolver. Sarlo also could not confirm whether the alleged robber made off with any money, or when the last time was that the borough had suffered an armed robbery.

"But you know, Christmas is coming," he quipped.

UPDATE: 11:09 a.m. Nov. 12

Collingswood police confirmed that money was indeed taken in the attack, although they would not release a specific dollar amount. Sarlo said they also now believe only one shot was fired in the incident, and that neighbors have reported seeing a vehicle driving around the area after the shooting—although that information may or may not be related to the case at this point.

Dude types like he is on crack. I have a headache from trying to follow that jibberish. Meanwhile, I hope the attendant recovers quickly and they catch the animal that shot him.

Photo Number 4 = a perfect picture of the cocky, arrogant, person (cant even call him a man), officer Pope, who hides behind and abuses the badge, and feels the need to put his hands on and push a female for no apparent reason.

Hey fellas, I appreciate that this is a public forum, and everyone is entitled to his opinion, but please, let's not read too much into this. What you see are photographs of police officers trying to control a fresh crime scene here. Any personal interactions you may have had with the members of the department I would encourage you to take up with the Chief.

Please don't misunderstand me: I am not claiming to know the details of your personal circumstances, and we are happy to provide a place for discussion, provided it is civil. This is not a forum for blind personal attacks against anyone.
