When the fire trucks come roaring around the corner, you're always glad to see them, whether there's a need or not.
Fortunately, the latter was the case yesterday when an afternoon call came in to the Collingswood Fire Department sometime around 4:30 p.m.
A report of smoke odor in a Bettlewood Avenue home touched off a tri-borough response that brought equipment from Oaklyn, Audubon, and Collingswood racing to the scene.
"It comes in as a dwelling fire; smoke in the house," said incident commander Curt Hudson. Hudson said that responders conducted "a thorough search of the property using thermal imaging equipment" but found no evidence of danger.
Still, it's nice to know that when the call goes out, help is quickly on its way.
