Roney’s Razed
The closed Collingswood burger joint comes down to make way for a wider Route 130.
The iconic turquoise awnings and orange paneling of Roney’s Restaurant lay in twisted heaps Monday as crews brought down the Route 130 burger joint.
Roney’s, closed in March 2011, came down to make way for a Route 130 widening project. Despite attempts to save the restaurant—including a Facebook group—the small restaurant fell victim to the state’s push for a wider Route 130 to deal with perpetual traffic clogs on the road.
Do you have a Roney’s memory to share? How about old photos or photos of the restaurant getting demolished? Tell us in the comments and add your photos by clicking on the upload button above.

Ann and her sister were great to talk with in the morning over coffee, but Shirley was another story, sometimes when Shirley was on I just do a drive-by. Started going there in 1980, great place, after Roney died it kinda went down hill from there...wonder where Ralph (scrap guy) is having coffee in the morning now, he was always there ! !
