POLL: Should Clarence Clemons Have His Day in Jersey?
Monmouth County Sen. Jennifer Beck thinks Jan. 11 should be proclaimed Clarence Clemons Day in the state.
For fans of Clarence Clemons, celebrating the legendary saxophone player's birthday may not be enough.
State Sen. Jennifer Beck (R) of Monmouth County has proposed a resolution making Clemons' birthday, Jan. 11, which would be recognized throughout New Jersey with an proclamation from the governor, according to The (Bergen) Record.
Clemons was born in Virginia, but is an original member of Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band. The saxophone player died last year at the age of 69 after suffering a stroke and several medical complications.
Tell us: Should Clarence Clemons have his own day in New Jersey?

Beck is a tool as well as a disgrace to republicans. She thinks people like bon heroin jovi and springstein should have to pay full property taxes on their huge palaces when they are clearly bee farms.

What won't our Gov do to have dinner with Bruce?! Sends his minion to come up with a Clarence Clemons Day! How about honoring the volunteers, first responders, firefighters, EMS, annually instead? They've made a greater impact on NJ than Clemons ever did.

Although Clarence Clemens was a fantastic saxsaphonist, I do not feel it warrants a special day in New Jersey after all he was from Virginia and even if he were from Jersey, it still doesn't warrant a special day. Let's get back to reality there are too many other things that need to get addressed in this state and a Clarence Clemen's day does not even come close to being on any sort of priority list.

Right, because as everybody knows legislators can only do one thing at a time.

It looks like she has authored/sponsored a lot of bills and probably some pretty good ones for her constituents. The better question is, does anyone care if any particular day is labeled Clarence Clemmons day or not? It isn’t like schools or banks will be closed on that day.

If it's going to cost the State a penny to do this then I say NO WAY! Not when so many in our state are still suffering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy. Not when we have a budget deficit. RIP Clarence - let his home state of Va. take on this expense!

I don't even like Springsteen or the band. Well except for the guy who was also on the Sopranos.....how about we honor some real heroes for a change? Maybe Bud Abbott or Lou Costello or how about Frank Sinatra if we are gonna start this nonsense.

I'm sorry, "a GREAT man"? What did I miss? Beyond his music, what did Clemons do that made him so great? He was a big man with bad knees. What else?

I think everyone is taking this WAY too seriously!!! They are not going to close schools and spend millions of dollars to erect a monument! It's just a day..Lighten up is right!

Jennifer Beck should say something about the pension fraud that initiated out of her legislative district in which her friend, the former sheriff, is implicated. How about for starters that it was "just wrong."
