An eagle-eyed Collingswood Police officer spotted John R. Malin, 20, of Collingswood allegedly handling a hypodermic syringe while walking down the 200 block of Haddon Avenue at 12:53 p.m. Jan. 23.

The officer stopped Malin and seized the syringe. A computer check revealed Malin was wanted on four outstanding warrants: $250 from Berlin, $100 from Collingswood, $1,200 from Audubon and $200 from Oaklyn.

Malin was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe and hit with an additional $500 bail. He was unable to post bail and remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility with a court date of Feb. 1.

Jan. 21

A suspicious vehicle check led to drug charges for two men—one of who tried to conceal his identity from police.

An officer responded to Linwood and Dayton avenues at 11:56 p.m. on Jan. 21. He encountered a car occupied by two men: William C. Lindsay, 41, of Lindenwold, and Gary A. Akers, 31, of Collingswood.

While questioning the men, Lindsay reportedly gave police a fake name. After determining his true identity, police discovered Lindsay was wanted on six warrants: $1,500 from Cinnaminson, $1,214 from Magnolia, two $500 warrants from Gloucester Township, $450 from Haddon Heights and $360 from Medford.

Akers also was discovered to have outstanding warrants: $391 from Collingswood and $250 from Oaklyn.

While searching the car, police found a substance believed to be heroin and a marijuana cigarette in Lindsay’s possession and two hypodermic needles and a substance believed to be heroin in Akers’ possession, according to reports.

Lindsay was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, failure to voluntary surrender a controlled dangerous substance to police and hindering apprehension.

Akers was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a hypodermic syringe and failure to voluntary surrender a controlled dangerous substance to police.

Both were remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility.
