NJ Troopers Return from Inauguration Duty
Forty troopers helped secure the presidential inauguration parade route, joining fellow New Jerseyans in Washington, DC, this week.

The Garden State was well-represented at President Obama's inauguration this week. From campaign volunteers to musicians to police, New Jerseyans were everywhere at the 57th presidential inauguration.
Forty New Jersey State Police troopers were deputized in Washington, DC, for the festivities. They spent Jan. 18-22 in the nation's capital for the inauguration detail. Their expenses were covered by Washington, DC's police department.
Led by Major Brian McPherson, commanding officer of the Special Operations Section, the troopers helped secure the parade route.
“I commend our troopers for their efforts during the inauguration festivities,” said Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. “These men and women proudly represented New Jersey during their assignment, and contributed to the safety and success of the day.”
Other New Jersey inauguration celebrators included Highland Regional High School's Mikhel Harrison, who helped shepherd VIPs; a Cinnaminson High School graduate who played with his college band and Obama campaign volunteer Lourin Plant, of Haddonfield. Jackson Jaguar marching band, from Ocean County, played in the parade.
