Mummers to Take Over the Pop Shop New Year's Eve
Before you countdown to New Year's Day 2011, get ready with the most festive crowd around—the Mummers.
On Dec. 31, The Pop Shop's fifth annual Kid's Kazoo Parade will put more fun, music—and glitter—into New Year's Eve than ever before.
At 4:15 p.m. on New Year's Eve, a string-band Mummers brigade will kick-off the parade outside The Pop Shop. Mummers will parade children down Haddon Avenue in a sea of sparkles and surprises.
All children in the parade will be given kazoos, which they'll play while marching down the avenue. After the parade, children will get confetti to throw during a pre-New Year's Day countdown.
All that parading can work up an appetite, so complimentary cookies will be served during the festivities.
And anyone needing to wash down cookies with a meal can step into The Pop Shop, which will be open for business from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. New Year's Eve.
Recently featured on television show "Throwdown With Bobby Flay," The Pop Shop is known for serving-up breakfast favorites all day long. The restaurant is famous for offering 30 different varieties of grilled cheese, one dozen types of from-scratch pancakes, hand-cut fries, sundaes, splits, milkshakes, build-your-own burgers and more.
The Pop Shop was awarded Best Family Restaurant by Nickelodeon's Annual Parent's Pick Award, and chosen by Restaurant Hospitality magazine as having the Best Kid's Menu in America.
If The Pop Shop's vintage-inspired retro feel—including tin ceilings, old-time soda fountains, a stool-clad 1950s soda counter and an antique juke box—sounds appealing, help them kick-off the New Year in style Dec. 31.
The Kid's Kazoo Parade begins at 4:15 p.m. outside of The Pop Shop, located at 729 Haddon Ave. in Collingswood. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be held inside the restaurant.
