Grab-and-Go Kids' Planner: February Favorites

February is packed with fabulous, family-friendly events throughout the area. To kick off your own Fabulous February, check out Patch's Picks for the week:
Event: Pro Bot/Bee Bot Programming Class
Where: Rhinoceros Toy Store, 107 Kings Hwy. E., Haddonfield
When: Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. (Bee Bot Class), and again at 11 a.m. (Pro Bot Class)
Why Go: The Pro Bot/Bee Bot classes at this Haddonfield toy store feature programming adventures. The Bee Bot teaches your child to find a target while reinforcing basic letter and number recognition skills. The Pro Bot class focuses on programming basic geometric shapes, and kids will also create a design plan for the robot to draw their shapes. The Pro Bot children's class is for more advanced future engineers. Feel free to utilize the store's gamery section while there. Tables are set up to hold four participants, and include crafts like hanging decorations, potholders, and beaded necklaces or bracelets. If these specific class times do not meet your needs, call 856-429-1841 to set up your own group. (Private groups available only to groups of four or more)
Cost: Bee Bot class is $20 per child, and includes three sessions. Pro Bot class is $25 per child, and includes three sessions.
Event: Home Depot Kids Workshop
Where: All Home Depot Locations
When: Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon
Why go: Bring your favorite tiny builder to your local Home Depot store and participate in this workshop. This weekend, with the help of friendly Home Depot staff, children will be constructing a Valentine's keepsake box.
Cost: This is a free event
Event: Kids In The Kitchen—Fruit and Veggies Take a Dip
Where: Wegmans, 2100 Rte. 70 W., Cherry Hill
When: Saturday, Feb. 4, with sessions from 11 a.m. to noon; 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; or 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Team up with your littlest chef, and teach them some deliciously healthy snacking options. Children will learn how to prepare these healthy snacks, about the 'five vegetables a day' rule, and how to incorporate eating all the colors of the rainbow. This week, kids will prepare fruit kabobs and dip, as well as guacamole and cucumbers with blue corn chips.
Cost: Admission is $5 per child-and-parent team (with use of a Wegman's Shoppers Club card); or $10 per child-and-parent team (without Wegman's card). Tickets must be purchased in advance, and are available at Wegmans' Service Desk.
Event: Paint and Mingle (For singles with kids) & Paint and Sip
Where: Treehouse Coffee Shop, 120 W. Merchant St., Audubon
When: Paint and Mingle (all ages) Friday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m.; or Paint and Sip (ages three to five) Monday, Feb 13, at 10 a.m.
Why Go: This event is booked by reservation only, and spots fill up quickly. This is your heads up to register for these fun-filled events before they sell out. The Paint and Mingle event is a chance for singles to mingle while their children can paint ceramics with the fabulous staff of Paint-A-Treasure. Your little ones will get a chance, on the following Monday, to do the same. Meet some parents in the area while your little ones make new friends and craft art projects they'll keep forever. Children may take their crafts home the same day.
Cost: $15 per painter
Event: Groundhog Day Celebration
Where: The Pop Shop, 729 Haddon Ave., Collingswood
When: Thursday, Feb. 2, all day long
Why Go: The movie Groundhog Day will be playing on a day-long loop at The Pop Shop this Thursday, so spend Groundhog Day with at Collingswood's favorite kid-friendly restaurant. If Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, all boys will receive a free Squirt Meal. If he doesn’t see his shadow, the special applies to all girls. This deal only applies to children 12 years of age and under. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult to redeem their free Squirt Meal. But teens and adults—don't feel excluded! The Pop Shop is also running a special for you. If all adults or teens order the same desserts at the same table on Groundhog's Day, desserts will be 50 percent off.
Cost: No cost for admission—just for the delicious Pop Shop fare
