Five Things for This Week: 8/27/12 - 9/1/12
Your weekly calendar of events includes a pair of important borough meetings Monday night and a pair of great movies.
Most of the action this week happens early on this week, with the Planning Board and School Board meetings running head-to-head Monday night after a blood drive. The week rounds out with a pair of great movies, one for grown-ups and one for kids.
1. Blood Drive
Mon., Aug. 27: 2-7 p.m., St. John's Church
Pre-register online or call the parish office at 856-858-0298 to schedule your donation. Bring ID and drink plenty of fluids beforehand. Eat iron-rich foods (red meat, fish, poultry, broccoli, beans, raisins and prunes) before and after your donation.
2. Planning Board Meeting
Mon., Aug. 27: 7 p.m., Borough Hall, 3rd Floor
Come see what the Planning Board has in store for the future of the borough at its monthly meeting.
3. School Board Meeting
Mon., Aug. 27: 7 p.m., Zane North Elementary School
Among the items on the agenda at this month's meeting—the last before the beginning of the 2012/13 school year—is an announcement of the bid winner for the provision of training services for the district's pilot teacher evaluation project.
4. Collingswood Movie Club
Tues., Aug. 28: 7 p.m., Collingswood Public Library
Join Collingswood Movie Blogger Robert Castle for this month's film and disussion. The selection is Don't Look Now, a 1973 thriller starring Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. The two play a couple who start to believe they're encountering the spirit of their recently drowned daughter on the streets of Venice.
5. Movies in the Park
Thu., Aug. 30: 8:30 p.m., Knight Park
The final outdoor screening of the summer is Tangled, the winning Disney adaptation of Rapunzel, starring Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.
