What's on tap this week? Lots of soccer, some live music, and a chance to test your Wii Sports mettle in an alcohol-fueled challenge.
1. Collingswood Girls Travel Soccer Practice
Mon., August 20 - 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.; Wed., August 22, 6:30 p.m.
Collingswood Girls Travel Soccer, an all-volunteer, privately run New Jersey Youth Soccer Association club, fields teams between ages 7 to 15. Three of the groups have practices in Knight Park this week. The Under-12 team practices at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20; the U-11 team practices an hour later at 6:30 p.m. The U9 team practices at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
2. Collingswood Junior Women's Club
Tues., August 21 - 7:30 p.m., Collingswood Public Library
Monthly meeting of the local women's club.
2a. Middle School Dance
Tues., August 22 - 7-9:30 p.m.
Collingswood students entering grades 6, 7, and 8 will get an opportunity to mingle at the Community Center in advance of the upcoming school year. $3 gets you in the door, plus all the soda you can drink.
3. My First Mini Soccer Day
Wed., August 22 - 6 p.m.
Collingswood Rec League is hosting a one-day demo of the world's game at Knight Park for 5 and 6 year-olds. Moms and dads can walk the field, learn about the rules, and kick a few balls with their kids. Registrants take home a free t-shirt, and there will be photos offered courtesy of Lilac Blossom Photography.
4. Summer Mummers
Wed., August 22 - 7-8:30 p.m.
Joseph A Ferko String Band on Powell Lane. Bring your own chair; concerts are cancelled in the event of rain.
5. Wii Sports Challenge
Fri., August 24 - 7-9 p.m.
