Five Things for This Week: 7/1/12 to 7/7/12

The borough commissioners hold their monthly meeting; plus, two outdoor movies, story time for toddlers, and a chance to help out needy kids.

 

1. Borough Commissioners Meeting

Monday, July 2
7 to 9 p.m.
Collingswood Community Center, 2nd Floor

Come share your thoughts with borough leadership on any issues of concern and hear about business affecting Collingswood at the monthly Commissioners meeting.

2. Movies in the Park - The Muppets/Happy Feet 2

Tuesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 5
7:30 p.m.
Knight Park (near the gazebo at Browning and Collings)

Throughout the months of July and August, the borough of Collingswood airs free outdoor family movies as part of its Music and Movies in the Park program. This week's offerings are The Muppets and Happy Feet 2.

3. Fourth of July Celebrations

Wednesday, July 4
10 a.m. Bike Parade, 2 p.m. Kids' Games, 6:30 p.m. Fireworks
Knight Park, Roberts Pool and Collingswood High School Stadium

Traditional celebrations of Independence Day in Collingswood include the children's bicycle parade in Knight Park and a fireworks display at the high school football field.

4. Operation Backpack

July 1 through July 31
Collingswood Borough Hall

Help gather back-to-school necessities for needy children in the region through this local charity fundraiser. Backpacks may be dropped off at Borough Hall.

5. Tiny Tots Story Time Registration

Friday, July 6
9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Collingswood Public Library

Register your child (aged 18 months to three years) for story time activities. Hour-long Wednesday and Friday programs take place at 10 a.m. in the Peter P. Childs Meeting Room. Call Dot or Carol at 856-858-0649 to sign up.

Your weekly Bonus Thing: Dig This (717 Haddon Ave) will be hosting an Atari video game party July 6 at 7pm. Kids are welcome, says owner Reed Orem, but the focus here is adults with a yen for the gaming adventures of their past. Look for a story on Patch this week with more details.
