Five Things for This Week: 5/29 to 6/2

From an arts symposium to prom night, it's a big week for Collingswood students. Plus, canoeing up the Cooper and town-wide bargain-hunting.

1. Board of Education Meeting

Tuesday, May 29, 7:30 p.m.
Collingswood Middle School Auditorium

On the docket are a few noteworthy items, including the Collingswood Teachers of the Year and a motion to finalize a shared administrative services agreement between the boroughs of Oaklyn and Collingswood.

2. Elementary School Arts Night

Thursday, May 31, 7:30 p.m.
Collingswood Middle School Auditorium

Artwork from every elementary school-aged child in the district will be on display, set to a backdrop of music performed by the bands and choruses of Garfield, Newbie, Sharp, Tatem and Zane North.

3. Prom Promenade

Friday, June 1, 6 p.m.
Knight Park

The proud parents of Collingswood high schoolers and their dates will be on hand to see their sons and daughters off to the dance in their finest suits and dresses.

4. Townwide Yard Sale

Saturday, June 2, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Locations TBA (check collingswood.com Friday morning for details)

Brought to you by the Proud Neighbors of Collingswood, the townwide yard sale is a great day to get outside and bargain-hunt for that nostalgic graduation or Father's Day gift.

5. Paddle the Cooper River

Saturday, June 2, 11:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Camden County Boat House

For $10, you can join Urban Trekkers and the New Jersey Conservation Foundation on a paddle up the Cooper River, and take in the sights of the ecosystem in your own backyard. Bring your own canoe or kayak. To reserve your space, call 908-234-1225.
