Fire crews from several towns are assisting Collingswood firefighters in knocking out the remnants of a house fire on Merrick Avenue at this hour.

The home in the 700 block of Merrick Avenue—its porch already swathed in patriotic banners and flags ahead of Independence Day—didn’t appear to suffer much external damage in the blaze.

Fire crews knocked out the windows of an upper-level room and were spraying inside.

The all-hands call from Collingswood drew crews from Westmont, Gloucester City, Pennsauken and Cherry Hill. Many of the firefighters emerging from the home immediately guzzled water amid the 96 degree temperature.

While ambulance crews were also on the scene, no one was being treated.
