These kelly green uniforms were the Eagles look from 1973 to 1995. Some fans want the official color changed back.
The look of today's Eagles' uniforms (a trademark of the NFL) use the "midnight green" shade.

Do you miss them? Did you love the Philadelphia Eagles so much more when they were in a kelly green jersey?

Many fans have come to dislike the new "midnight green," black/charcoal and white design. Perhaps it is the dismal last season, or maybe it just is a longing for yesteryear, but some fans have decided to do something about it.

According to an article on philly.com, local twitter personality "Cranekicker" has started a petition to bring back the kelly green uniforms of the past.

The Eagles had donned the kelly green (with silver eagles' wings on the helmet) uniforms from 1973 to 1995, according to the Eagles year-by-year history.

Cranekicker has written a petition to Eagles' owner Jeffrey Laurie to ask for the official team colors to be transferred back to kelly green. His petition, which anyone may sign by visiting this change.org link, had more than 10,000 supporters as of Sunday evening.

"It's more representative of our legacy, and the franchise is going through major changes that should be reflected by a change in our image as well," said Cranekicker in his petition.

He is suggesting that the uniforms be redesigned into a "modern uniform design" but that kelly green be their official color instead of the current "midnight green."

Along with a signature of support, Cranekicker is asking that signers also promise to support the new team look by making one gear purchase.

"I am expressing a commitment to purchase an NFL licensed official/replica/youth jersey within 12 months of new kelly green uniforms being released," states the petition.

I think almost all the old unis are much better than the new ones, ie, the Patriots, the Broncos, etc. The problem with convincing Lurie is that there's no real financia incentive. The NFL divides monies generated from the sale of licensed merchandise equally among the 32 franchises. I'd love it and they'd sell a lot of new merch, but I think it amounts to a drop in the bucket.

You're right about that. I love the baby blue and yellow Chargers jerseys and that's just one example.

The new uniforms are in the aqua / teal family. Let's stop pretending it's not.

And it needs to go. This isn't 1991 when teal was "in".

I agree Porter. I've been saying more on the blue side than green, but you got it pegged. Even if teal was in, in 1991, you don't just up and change the color. Maybe a shade but keep them in the Green family. Fly Eagles Fly

I was glad to see the kelly green go.....it was an ugly shade of green. I buy more Eagles attire these days because of the new colors and logo.
