Prosecutor's Office Seeks RNs for Forensic Training

Camden County residents are needed to help process examinations of sexual assault victims at hospitals in Camden, Stratford, and Voorhees.

The Forensic Nurse Examiner Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is currently looking to train a few registered nurses (RNs) to aid in examinations of sexual assault victims.

Such professionals "play a key role in both gathering evidence necessary for convicting a rapist and offering dignity and understanding to those who are the victims of sexual assault," according to a press release from the office.

Previously, such examinations had only been available at hospitals in Camden and Stratford, the prosecutor's office said. Since June 2012, they have been offered at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, which has a dedicated maternal-child health wing that is "an ideal match for the services most often performed by forensic nurses," the statement read.

Applicants should be Camden County residents and RNs with clinical experience. The position is on-call, not full-time.

To be considered for the Basic Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners certification course, fax a resume to Francina Pendergrass, FNE Coordinator at 856-580-6050. Phone calls will not be accepted.
