Broad Street Run 2013 Lottery Info
Find out how to register for a chance at one of 40,000 spots in the annual 10-miler.
A year after the race sold out in five server-crash-filled hours, Broad Street Run officials released lottery details for the 2013 race on its website Wednesday.
With 40,000 spots up for grabs, the lottery will open at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 4 and close Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m. Race officials encouraged runners to spread out registrations over the 12-day period, as lottery chances are equal no matter when runners register.
Race officials suggested runners register according to the following schedule:
|Last Name/Group Name||Register|
|A through F||Feb. 4-5|
|G through L||Feb. 6-7|
|M through R||Feb. 8-9|
|S through Z||Feb. 10-11|
|All remaining||Feb. 12-15|
The lottery will be conducted electronically, with results posted on broadstreetrun.com by 10 a.m. Feb. 19, and all runners who register for the lottery will receive an email notifying them of their status.
Race officials have also made an exception for veteran runners, defined as anyone who’s run the race at least 10 times—consecutively or non-consecutively. Veterans who don’t get in via the lottery can email email@example.com after lottery results are posted to get a veteran entry to the race.
Last year, 34,058 runners finished the 10-mile race, considered the biggest and fastest of its kind in the nation, from Olney down to the Navy Yard.
