Boys' Soccer Falls in First Round

Collingswood lost to Deptford, 2-0.

 

The season came to an end for the Collingswood High School boys’ soccer team in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs. The No. 12 seeded Panthers hung close to No. 5 Deptford, but were unable to get the offense in gear in a 2-0 loss.

Deptford got one goal in each half, with Jose Gonzalez and Ousmane Sall each finding the back of the net. Collingswood keeper Jack Grassi made five saves, while Deptford goalie Andrew Kratz recorded six saves in the shutout.

The Spartans advanced to the quarterfinals where they will meet the winner of No. 4 Buena and No. 13 Bridgeton.

With the loss, Collingswood ends the season 4-15-1.
