5 Things for This Week: 8/06/12 to 8/11/12
Borough commissioners meeting, National Night Out, and Second Saturday—it's going to be a busy week.
1. Borough Commissioners Meeting
Aug. 6, 7 p.m.
Collingswood Community Center
The borough commissioners will take on new business at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Previous meetings have focused on the LumberYard, and this one is not likely to be any different; at the special meeting held just a few weeks ago, residents asked nearly 90 solid minutes' worth of questions about the borough proposal to finish off the project.
2. National Night Out
Aug. 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Collingswood Community Center
Bring your family out to meet their local law enforcement and emergency services personnel at this free crime prevention event. Borough police will shut down traffic at the intersections of Collings and North Atlantic Avenues for the street fair event, which will feature free food, games and face-painting for children. Come meet Patch staffers and get some swag!
3. Historic Board Meeting
Aug. 9, 7-8:30 p.m.
3rd Floor, Borough Hall
The custodians of the historic places in the borough will convene for their monthly meeting.
4. Dream Big Magic Show
Aug. 10, 7-9 p.m.
Collingswood Public Library
The capstone experience to the summer reading program for children features magician Brian Richards. Admission is free and no registration is required.
5. Second Saturday
Aug. 11, 5-9 p.m.
Come on out and enjoy the monthly weekend street fair that promises an immersive walking experience filled with fine and performing artists, complimentary beverages, and gallery openings.

Upcoming later this week, Jason. The sum of the business was concluded in about 20 minutes, with no public comment. I'm reviewing the ordinances that were discussed before writing.
In short, there were second reads of the dog-tethering, fire pit, and portable storage ordinances, approvals of bills for payment, and a slight grace period for borough residents who may be behind on water and sewer bills.
